Our Story
The Sgro Journey started very simply:
“Treat others as you yourself want to be treated”
I started working for Frank Walker before they were National Tiles in 1985. I drove a truck delivering tiles and began tiling with professional tiles on weekends to earn extra money for my growing family. While still working with Frank, I received the opportunity to enter the sales team and, from there sales manager with one of Frank’s stores in Grovedale, Geelong. As time went on, I left the company and started my own tiling contracting. My three sons became tilers, and we did contracts in Melbourne and Geelong. In 2005, my sons and I started our own Supply and install tile company called Suregrip Ceramics in Geelong West. The company was doing very well until the Global Financial Crisis GFC in 2009; this meant that the company could not support all family members any longer. So Joy and I left the company to the boys, who eventually paid all debts off and closed that chapter of our lives. Joy and I continued as a husband and wife tiling team and reestablished ourselves in the tiling business.
Sgro Tiling has 35+ years in business, Closer to 40 years, consistently delivering quality and reliability. Now you can be confident that what we have achieved with our tiling business, through the trades connections we have developed, we will provide that level of service in all these property-related areas.
